![]() South Bay's Children's Therapeutic Day Activity Programs address the unique strengths and difficulties of its clients by offering a variety of treatment interventions. The program services children ages 6 to 12 years old. Clients may attend the program up to four days per week, depending on the need for intensive services. The program is time limited, with a client's average length of stay being approximately one year. Services Prior to intake, each client is assigned a treatment coordinator who oversees the client's services while enrolled in the program. All treatment coordinators are Master's level clinicians trained in working with children who have emotional and/or behavioral needs. In addition, treatment coordinators meet with their clients weekly to discuss their participation in the program and meet monthly with families, at home or at the program, to discuss the impact of their child's treatment within the family system. A group therapy session and recreational therapy take place each day. Clients are encouraged to provide and receive support in the group. A behavior modification system is utilized to reinforce positive behavior at the program. Therapeutic group activities include art therapy, anger management, self-esteem, social skills, and team building. Collaboration Treatment coordinators work closely with collaterals, such as DSS, DMH, primary care physicians, and psychiatrists to ensure continuity of care. Communication with schools is initiated monthly to support each client's educational success. Additional and/or specialized services such as individual/family therapy, psychiatric assessments, and medication evaluations are available to clients and families in the program through South Bay's outpatient clinical services. |
