Building Your Career

Building a career requires a solid foundation of skills, knowledge and experience. At South Bay, you can begin building your career with the support of great team members and resources.

What are your professional goals?
Are you looking to gain experience with a new population or start a group? You can make it happen here. South Bay is an agency that is run by clinicians and we value creativity and innovation. Through supervision, agency trainings and with the support of other team members, you will have the tools to pursue your professional goals. The rest is up to you!

How can I get licensed?
Take advantage of the resources available at South Bay. South Bay provides LICSW and LMHC supervision for our full-time employees. South Bay also provides Clinical Trainings free of charge for all employees to obtain the continuing education credits necessary for licensure. Check out our Professional In-Service Training Calendar for a list of upcoming trainings. Visit the Massachusetts state licensure board at http://www.mass.gov/dpl/boards.htm for complete information about licensure requirements.

What training does a new clinician receive?
During the first week, new clinicians jump right into exciting and meaningful work with the support of the entire team. You will begin spending time with a team mentor on your first day of employment. South Bay's Mentoring Program provides important on-the-job training for new clinicians. You can also expect to spend considerable time with your supervisor during your first week of employment. Through our structured Mentoring Program and supervision, you will learn the clinical and administrative skills necessary to succeed at South Bay. South Bay's Job Coaching program is another resource available to clinicians. Our Job Coaches work closely with clinicians to establish a clear plan for achieving personal and professional goals at South Bay.

What are the advantages of the team environment?
Learning from team members with diverse educational, clinical, and experiential backgrounds is one of the best ways to build upon your career. Our team members are always willing to share their expertise with you. Whether it's reviewing a case at a weekly team meeting, a co-visit with another team member or a discussion in the team room, this collaborative environment is integral to your professional development.

How important is commitment?
Accepting a position with South Bay requires making a commitment. Not only are you making a commitment to your career, you are making a commitment to your new team and most importantly, the families you will soon work with.
